Americana Night at the Longmont Social

Join The Longmont Social for an evening of Americana Music with Mike Waldrep and Dave Sorensen.

Mike Waldrep
My name is Mike Waldrep and I'm an Americana folk style singer/songwriter and storyteller. My music is based on my Rocky Mountain outdoor adventures. I was raised on the slopes and high country of Colorado. I have guided hunters into the wilderness and rafters down class five white water.

My passions include hiking the high mountain crater lakes to fly fishing gold medal waters and my lyrics reflect those experiences. I was recently signed by Assemble Sound out of Detroit and they are promoting my original music worldwide as SYNC representatives.

Dave Sorensen
Dave is a songwriter from Arvada who has called Colorado home since the mid 1990’s. A not-quite over-the-hill acoustic guitar playing blue-collar family man and father of four who works as a mechanic while dreaming of retiring, writing full time and getting published.

He’s “kind of a city slicker” as one of his songs points out, but a country boy at heart who grew up in rural areas and small towns, listening to and influenced by the greats of rock, folk and especially country music in the good old days of radio and vinyl. Observations on life, experience and a sarcastic sense of humor color his music

Music handled by Music First.

June Member Meeting and Education Series

We will have our June member meeting and education series on the 30th at 1PM at Copper Sky and Zoom. If you are interested in participating via Zoom, please email us and we will add you.

Those who are current members and those who would like to be, or would like to find out more - are welcome to join. This month we were a bit late in posting this meeting due to making some changes.

This meeting will be mostly about a change we are making in how we approve new venues. We will be forming a committee of our musician members who will vote on new venues. We have 2 volunteers and are looking for 3 more.

This committee will meet and learn about all new venues that want to work with us. They will either approve the venue or deny it, letting the venue know why it was denied. This committee will be up for election each year.

We are also no longer planning on rotating meeting locations, due to the demand for a virtual way to attend. Copper Sky has multiple private rooms that we can utilize to accomplish this. We will be hosting it at this location until Music First can open it's own space.

We are not planning anything specific, to allot enough time for discussion on the new committee.

Joshua Bergmann at GrossenBart Brewery

Joshua Bergmann comes from an eclectic musical background with experience in genres from jazz to bluegrass and all things in between. Pursuing his passion for music from a young age, he is studied in classical composition and jazz guitar. Josh however, found his true love is rooted in playing the mandolin and guitar in folk, Americana and bluegrass. Through years of dedication he’s become an accomplished player, performing on major bluegrass festival stages and venues.

As a go-to player for the Southern California area, Joshua has been able to work with an array of amazing Americana and bluegrass bands. With his immaculate 1919 Gibson A-3 mandolin, he has also been a choice studio player for a variety of professional artists. Growing up and living in the talent rich town of Ojai Ca. Joshua has been in big demand and blessed to collaborate with some of the best in the business with their artistic endeavors. Joshua has also worked diligently to move forward with his own musical vision, developing his unique songwriting style, multi-instrumentation, and production skills. This resulted in his self-produced EP titled “Joshua Bergmann,” a record that has become a fan favorite.

A particularly noteworthy aspect of Joshua’s artistic perspective is his battle with Muscular Dystrophy. Losing major muscle groups in his upper body, Joshua has been forced to change his style of play and conquer challenges that few musicians have to face. These triumphs are important contributors to the artistic depth and unique style that makes Joshua such a profound artist.

Come down and support Joshua as a part of Music First Saturday Series.
