Please read, this is very important. 

Part of what we do is work with venues, consulting and providing them qualified talent.  

We had a venue at the end of last year terminate all of our agreements without Music First’s permission and start refusing to pay musicians who had performed at their venue.  

This not only goes against our agreements, but what we stand for.  

Last Friday, 1/24, Music First submitted a lawsuit against this venue vying for our musician’s payments.  I want to stress that none of the cost of this lawsuit has fallen onto the musicians who are a part of it.  This is an expense Music First is willing to take on to protect musicians. 

This venue has not been served yet by the sheriff’s office, so as of now I will not mention their name.  If you would like to find out who it is, please read on. 

This venue is still booking musicians to play, musicians who are unaware that this venue has issues paying.  

We are holding a musicians community discussion at Johnson’s Station at 7PM February 18th.  This is why we are not having a member meeting this month.  I have had to invest the time I use for that, into this.  

At this meeting Music First will reveal who this venue is - we have to wait until after they have been served.  

Musicians will be able to express their opinions on how we can hold venues that do this accountable beyond a lawsuit, helping prevent musicians from falling prey to venues who do not pay in the future.
